This is the cheapest solution I know of to reduce shadows in close-up photography because it illuminates the subject from all angles. I have mainly used it to photograph documents as opposed to scanning them. However, I have found on occasion that a dark ring can occur around the illuminated area. There is no way around this that other to take note of camera<-> subject distance and us zoom whenever possible.The JJC LED-60 Macro Ring Lighting Unit has 60 powerful LEDs. It's output continuous but dimmable light source makes it perfect for close up, macro, medical, scientific and forensic photography; the macro lighting ring is positioned directly between the camera lens and subject providing an equal 'shadow free' illumination. However the 4 LED quadrants are not moveable but if this feature were added would only drive the price upwards.The lighting unit is mounted onto the end of the cameras lens via one of the supplied 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm or 67mm step rings. If the camers lens has a different size filter thread, a different step up ring will be required.The lighting unit is fully dimmable allowing it to be used to create a variety of lighting effects. Power is provided via 4 x AA batteries, one per LED quadrants.If the 4 quadrants were rotatable I would hav given5-stares.
