Follow application directions closely, treat the house too
I love this stuff, despite being skeptical due to the negative reviews. I usually apply the Advantage drops to my indoor, but the fleas have been so bad in my area this year that the once a month application hasn’t been able to really keep them away. (I’m also having to treat the house.) I treated all three of my cats with this and none of them had any kind of adverse reaction whatsoever. They actually reacted far more positively to this than the drops, I guess because I was vigorously rubbing the stuff all over them like I was just petting them. I followed the directions carefully and spread the spray to their heads only by working it up there with my hands - as the directions say - and only sprayed enough on them to lightly dampen their fur. My fluffiest cat is grooming herself on my lap as I write, several hours after application, with no troubles whatsoever. There’s no need to soak a pet with this, and especially as soon as it dries it seems to be very well tolerated. (None of my cats tried to groom before it dried.)

Does it's job.
I work with feral cat colonies and do TNR. I use this to spray bedding and my car when transporting cats to the vet. Outdoor cats tend to have an abundance of fleas and ticks sometimes. I spray my pants and shoes with it also during the summer when I spend time at colony locations. I have never directly sprayed a ct with it, just items.

This stuffs pretty great, awesome on cat bedding.
So yeah; it’s pretty obvious the treatment is mixed with alcohol. The alcohol evaporates quick, and your left with the actual treatment, it’s pretty brilliant. I ONLY USE IT ON MY CAT BEDDING AND COUCHES If it smells that bad right out of the bottle, use your brain and don’t spray it on the cat, seriously. All these reviews about cats in the hospital cause of this stuff, yeah I can see that, but after you smell it wtf would you treat an animal with it? SMH

This has been our key to success.
Even though our cats are indoor only, somehow every so often they get fleas. The first time was a horror show. We battled the fleas for months. This product was the only way we were able to get rid of the fleas. Now when we see a flea, we go right to the spray and we vacuum and poof! No more fleas. I can't tell you about others experiences but this is our experience. This last time, one and done. It has been we weeks (we check the cats every 2 days or so) and we have not seen a flea. Thanks Advantage.

Perfect for ticks!
I love this spray! My indoor/outdoor cat used to come home with 5+ visible ticks daily. I spray him with this every other day and he hasn’t had one tick on him all summer. The bottle will last months on one cat. Will definitely keep buying this product.

Not worth the money
Expensive for the amount you get and it really doesn’t work as well, as it used to. I’m not sure if they’ve changed the formulation, but I probably won’t buy it again. I started using Vets Best and it works well and doesn’t have that horrible alcohol smell. It also doesn’t irritate my cats skin, or mine. If you have sensitive skin , stay away from the chemical formulas. I sprayed my furniture and even after it dried completely, it caused irritation to my husband and myself. In the past We did not have a problem with this, but we do now.

How do you recommend.

Does nothing
We didn't have a flea issue with my cats, but they were getting ticks every time they went outside. They'd be out for 3 hours and come home with 3-4 ticks. We soaked their fur in this stuff and they continued to get just as many ticks as before. It did literally nothing for ticks.
